Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal information Hope for Community Initiative Uganda collects through this website, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
Draft, pending review. This policy accurately describes what the website does today, but several points still need confirming by HCIU and the whole document should be checked by someone qualified before you rely on it. Unconfirmed points are flagged inline.
Who we are
Hope for Community Initiative Uganda (HCIU) is a registered charity in Uganda, registration No. 1085. We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at hopeforcommunityintiativeug@gmail.com or on +256 782 758 024, or by post at Magamaga Town Council, Kaudhu Zone, Mayuge District, Uganda.

What we collect, and why
We only collect what you type into a form on this site. We do not buy personal data, and we do not ask you to create an account.

Only the fields marked required on each form are required. The donation form lets you give anonymously, in which case we do not record your name.
Payments
This website does not take card payments and does not ask for card or bank details. Submitting the donation form records your pledge and nothing is charged. We contact you afterwards with transfer details so you can complete your gift through a channel such as Western Union, MoneyGram, WorldRemit, Ria, Airtel Money or MTN Mobile Money. Those providers handle your payment information under their own privacy terms, not ours.

Cookies and analytics
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Nothing is stored on your device until you answer the banner on your first visit, and the only thing stored then is your answer.
If you accept, we load Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to count page views and measure how quickly pages load. Both are cookieless: they record aggregate figures and do not build a profile of you or follow you to other websites. If you decline, neither is loaded at all. You can change your mind at any time on our cookie policy page, which lists everything we store.
Who else sees your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. This website is hosted on Vercel, which processes requests on our behalf and necessarily handles your submission in transit.

How long we keep it
We keep what you send us for as long as we need it to respond to you and to meet our record-keeping obligations as a registered charity, and no longer.

Your choices
- You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it.
- You can withdraw consent to be contacted about volunteering at any time.
- You can unsubscribe from our updates at any time by replying to any message or writing to us.

Children
The forms on this site are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children through this website. Where our programmes involve children, their information is handled offline under our safeguarding practices and never through these forms.

If we change how we handle your information we will update this page.
