We are a livelihood and relief aid charity foundation in Uganda, registered charity in uganda, registration no. 1085, reaching out to people in need and supporting them to lift themselves out of poverty and hardship.
Our beginning
Our Story
Our journey traces back to our founder, Kakaire Musa, a young man from Eastern Uganda whose life was shaped by personal loss, hardship, and a deep desire to serve others.
Musa lost both of his parents at a relatively young age. Growing up without the guidance and support of his parents was not easy, and he experienced firsthand the challenges faced by children and families struggling without someone to turn to. Rather than allowing these experiences to define his future, they strengthened his compassion for people going through similar difficulties.
As he grew older, Musa moved from place to place in search of opportunities to support himself and contribute to the needs of those around him. Through small jobs and modest earnings, he began helping vulnerable people in his community whenever he could. Sometimes it was food, sometimes school necessities, and sometimes simply a small financial contribution to someone facing an urgent need.
His acts of kindness were never about having much, but about sharing whatever little he had.
Over time, Musa realized that many vulnerable families in Eastern Uganda were facing challenges far greater than one person could address alone. Orphans, widows, elderly people, persons with disabilities, and low-income families often struggled to meet their most basic needs, while some communities lacked access to clean water, decent shelter, food, and other essential services.
With this realization, Musa joined hands with a group of young, like-minded people who shared the same vision of creating hope within their communities. Together, they began mobilizing support from individuals, well-wishers, and compassionate members of the community, collecting whatever they could, one contribution at a time, to respond to the needs of the most vulnerable.
What began as a personal commitment to help people in need gradually grew into an organized community initiative.
Today, the organization carries forward that same spirit: to turn compassion into action and to ensure that vulnerable people do not have to face life’s challenges alone.
Our story is therefore not simply about an organization. It is a story of resilience, compassion, and the belief that even a small act of kindness can become a source of hope for someone in need.
A note on dates: Hope for Community Initiative Uganda was formally registered as a charity in 2022, registered charity in uganda, registration no. 1085.
We reach out to vulnerable people regardless of religion, race or gender, in respect of human dignity and in fulfilment of the duty of care placed upon us.

Mission
To serve and uplift vulnerable and underserved communities through Islamic-inspired humanitarian assistance, education, healthcare, clean water, food security, shelter, and livelihood support, while promoting compassion, dignity, self-reliance, and sustainable community development.
Vision
To build empowered, self-reliant, and compassionate communities in Eastern Uganda where every vulnerable person can live with dignity, hope, and equal access to basic needs and opportunities.

We focus on capacity building, especially skills development and productive programmes for people who are vulnerable or in need, to make sure the change lasts a lifetime rather than a season.

Decisions run from the Annual General Meeting through the Board of Directors and the Chairman, down to the staff, logistics, advisors and volunteers who deliver the work.
